Safety & Informational Signage

OVERVIEW

Safety and informational signage communicates hazards, rules, emergency routes and essential information, and in the UAE it must follow civil-defence and municipality requirements. K.A.T SIGNS designs, produces and installs compliant safety and informational signage across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi, in durable materials with the correct symbols, colours and bilingual English and Arabic text.

What is safety and informational signage?

Safety signage warns people of hazards and directs them in emergencies, while informational signage communicates rules, facilities and general guidance. Together they keep buildings compliant and people safe, and both rely on standardised colours and pictograms so the message is understood instantly, even by someone who does not read the language. In the UAE these signs follow civil-defence rules and use bilingual English and Arabic text.

  • Fire exit, assembly point and emergency route signs
  • Mandatory action signs, such as protective equipment
  • Warning and hazard signs
  • Prohibition signs, such as no smoking
  • Informational signs for facilities, floors and rules

What are the UAE rules for safety signage?

UAE safety signage must comply with civil-defence requirements, using recognised safety colours, symbols and, for fire and emergency signs, photoluminescent materials where required. Signs must be bilingual English and Arabic, with the Arabic no smaller than the English, and must be placed where they are clearly visible along escape routes and at hazards. K.A.T SIGNS builds signage to these standards so your premises pass inspection and keep occupants safe.

Compliance is not optional. Civil-defence inspections check that exit and emergency signage is present, correct and visible. Getting the colours, symbols and photoluminescence right the first time avoids costly rework.

What do the safety sign colours mean?

Safety sign colours are standardised so their meaning is universal, and using the right colour is part of compliance. The table shows the core colour code.

ColourMeaningExample
GreenSafe condition, escapeFire exit, assembly point
RedProhibition, fire equipmentNo smoking, extinguisher
YellowWarning, cautionSlippery floor, hazard
BlueMandatory actionWear protective equipment

Which materials suit safety signage?

Safety signage materials are chosen for durability, visibility and, where needed, glow in the dark. We use rigid PVC, aluminium and acrylic for wall and door signs, photoluminescent film for exit and emergency signage so it stays visible in a power cut, and durable print that resists fading. For outdoor and industrial areas we specify weather- and chemical-resistant materials so the sign stays legible in harsh conditions. Correct material choice also affects how long a sign keeps performing, because a faded or peeling safety sign is treated as no sign at all during an inspection, so we specify finishes that stay sharp and readable for the life of the building.

How do we deliver a safety signage project?

We plan safety signage around your building layout and the applicable civil-defence requirements.

  1. Site walk-through to map hazards, exits and routes
  2. Schedule of required signs with correct symbols and languages
  3. Production in compliant, durable and photoluminescent materials
  4. Installation at the correct heights and visibility points
  5. Handover with a placement record for inspections

Where it works best

  • Brand visibility and customer-facing communication
  • New openings, refurbishments, campaigns, and events
  • Projects needing coordinated design, fabrication, printing, and permits

HOW WE WORK

FROM BRIEF TO INSTALLED

01

Survey & sightlines

We measure your facade, check approach angles and night visibility, and confirm what the landlord and municipality will allow.

02

Design on your facade

You see the sign rendered on a photo of your actual storefront, day and night — not a generic mockup.

03

In-house fabrication

CNC routing, acrylic forming, LED assembly and finishing under our roof, with QC photos before dispatch.

04

Permit & install

We submit the municipality permit, then install — after hours if you are trading — and hand over with warranty.
