Do you need municipality approval for signage in the UAE?
Yes, any exterior sign visible from a public area in the UAE needs municipality approval before installation. In Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi, exterior signage permits are issued by the relevant municipality, and some locations also require RTA road-authority or landlord and mall sign-off. UAE signage must be bilingual English and Arabic, and municipalities require the Arabic text to be no smaller than the English. K.A.T SIGNS prepares the artwork, technical drawings and translations and files the permit on your behalf, so your sign is legal from day one.
Permits are part of the job. We handle DED trade-name matching, bilingual EN/AR layout and municipality submission so your storefront is approved before it goes up, avoiding fines and forced removal.
Which materials survive the UAE climate?
Signs in the Emirates have to withstand intense UV, heat, humidity and coastal salt, so material choice matters more here than in cooler markets. We build with marine-grade aluminium for structure and returns, UV-stabilised acrylics for faces and diffusers, and IP65-rated LED drivers and modules for every illuminated element. These specifications keep colours from fading, prevent corrosion near the coast and protect electrics from dust and moisture, which is why our signs keep looking new years after installation.

How much does signage cost in the UAE?
Signage is quoted per project because size, illumination, materials and permits all change the price. As a guide, fabricated 3D channel letters typically range from AED 1,500 to AED 8,000 depending on size and lighting, while non-illuminated flat signs cost less and large pylons or digital screens cost more. The table below shows how the main categories compare.
| Signage type | Typical use | Indicative price |
|---|---|---|
| Flat and vinyl signs | Indoor and low-level branding | Quoted per project |
| 3D channel letters | Storefront brand name | AED 1,500 to AED 8,000 |
| Illuminated box signs | Shopfront visibility | Quoted per project |
| Pylon and monument | Roadside and building entry | Quoted per project |
| Digital LED screens | Dynamic content | Quoted per project |
