WHY DESIGN FIRST

A LOGO TESTED ON A LAPTOP, LIVES ON A BUILDING.

Most identities are approved on a 14-inch screen and then expected to perform on a 14-metre facade. The translation often fails — hairline strokes vanish, tight spacing fuses, gradients become fabrication nightmares. Because we also build signs, we design with production in mind from the first sketch.

Good design is not decoration; it is the cheapest competitive advantage you can buy. The right identity, campaign or website makes a small company read as a serious one — and that perception closes business before a single conversation starts.

From a scalable brand mark to a stamped government permit, K.A.T SIGNS (Khetout Al Tahaluf) designs signage that is built to be fabricated and cleared for production across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi. Every technical drawing is prepared in-house, and every approval is submitted on your behalf, so nothing is produced before it is legally cleared and nothing is left for you to chase between suppliers.

What is included in Design and Approval?

Design and Approval is our end-to-end service that turns a business name into a buildable, government-cleared sign. It joins two things most companies treat separately: creative design that is engineered for fabrication, and the UAE permit process that must be completed before any sign or vehicle wrap is installed. We handle both under one roof in Sharjah, so the artwork we draw is the artwork that gets approved and produced.

The service spans brand identity, name and logo design, and the full set of authority pre-approvals, so you deal with one team from first sketch to installed sign. That single line of accountability is the difference between a smooth launch and weeks lost to rejected submissions and mismatched files.

  • Brand identity and logo artwork designed as scalable vector, ready for cutting, routing, printing and channel-letter fabrication.
  • Bilingual English and Arabic layouts, with Arabic treated as mandatory rather than an afterthought.
  • Technical drawings, elevations and specification sheets formatted for each authority.
  • Submission and follow-up with the relevant department on your behalf.
  • Production only after written approval, with permit fees itemised at cost.

Why must UAE signage be approved before it is produced?

Because in the UAE a sign or vehicle wrap is a regulated installation, not just artwork. Authorities check that the name on the sign matches the trade licence, that Arabic is present and correct, and that the size, position and lighting meet local rules. Producing first and approving later risks rejection, rework, fines and removal, so approval always comes before fabrication.

Getting the order right protects your budget as much as your timeline. A change made on a drawing costs almost nothing, while the same change on a finished, installed sign means re-fabrication and re-installation. This is why our entire process is built around clearing the paperwork before we cut a single panel.

The golden rule in the UAE: the sign or brand name must match your trade licence exactly, and Arabic is mandatory. We check licence wording and Arabic accuracy before a single panel is cut, which is where most first-time rejections are avoided.

Which government authorities approve your signs and vehicle graphics?

It depends on the emirate and the sign type. Shopfront and building signage in Sharjah runs through SEDD and Sharjah Municipality, while vehicle graphics are approved emirate by emirate. The table below maps the common cases we prepare and submit, so you can see at a glance which route applies to your project.

FROM BRIEF TO INSTALLED

01

Discover

We learn your business, audience and competitors, then agree the goal the design has to achieve — not just how it should look.

02

Concept

You see real directions in context — on a storefront, a screen, a vehicle — so you choose with confidence, not guesswork.

03

Refine

We sharpen the chosen route, test it at every scale it will live at, and prepare clean production files.

04

Deliver

Organised files, a usage guideline, and — if you want — straight into fabrication under the same roof.

FAQ

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Do I need approval before making a sign in the UAE?
Yes. Shopfront and building signage in Sharjah needs SEDD design and signage pre-approval plus Sharjah Municipality clearance, and vehicle graphics need per-emirate approval, all before production. K.A.T SIGNS prepares and submits these on your behalf.
Does K.A.T SIGNS handle both design and government submission?
Yes. We design the artwork in-house, prepare the technical drawings each authority requires, submit on your behalf, follow up until approval is issued, and only then produce the sign.
Must my sign be in Arabic?
Yes. Arabic is mandatory on UAE signage, and the name must match your trade licence. We design bilingual English and Arabic layouts and verify the wording before fabrication.
How much does design and approval cost?
Design is quoted per project based on scope, and government permit fees are itemised separately at cost with no markup. Request a quote and we will confirm the full breakdown.
Does K.A.T SIGNS provide Design & Approval across the UAE?
Yes. K.A.T SIGNS designs, produces and installs Design & Approval across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi from our in-house facility in Sharjah, with government and municipality permits handled end to end — send your details for a free, fast quote.
