Window Perforated Film

OVERVIEW

Window perforated film is a one-way vinyl printed with your branding on the outside while remaining see-through from inside, letting you advertise on rear glass without blocking the driver’s view across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi. K.A.T SIGNS prints and installs perforated film in-house and advises on where RTA permits glass graphics.

What is window perforated film?

Window perforated film, often called one-way vision film, is a vinyl full of tiny holes that carries a printed image on its outer face while allowing people inside to see out through the perforations. From outside, the eye reads the printed graphic; from inside, the perforations keep the glass usable as a window. This makes it the one branding material designed specifically for glass, turning a rear window into advertising space without the solid blackout a normal decal would create. It is widely used on vehicle rear glass, and the same product brands shopfront and showroom windows.

Where can perforated film be used on a vehicle in the UAE?

Perforated film is used on the rear windscreen of a vehicle, and importantly RTA sometimes permits rear perforated film even though branding on the windshield and side windows is not allowed. This makes the rear glass a valuable branding surface you can legally use where solid graphics are prohibited. It is ideal for adding a logo, message or campaign to the back of a van or bus that following traffic sees at every stop. Because the rules on glass are stricter than on bodywork, we confirm what is permitted for your specific vehicle before printing, and we handle the submission through our RTA and SEDD pre-approval service. It complements bodywork branding such as a partial wrap or decals by extending the design onto the rear glass.

Does window perforated film block the driver’s view?

No, that is the entire point of perforated film: the small holes across the sheet let the driver see out through the rear glass while the printed side faces the public. Visibility from inside is reduced compared to clear glass, similar to looking through a fine screen, but it stays safe and usable for normal rearward vision. This one-way property is why perforated film exists, and it is what separates it from a solid decal that would black out the window entirely. Correct installation matters, since bubbles or poor edge sealing on glass are more visible than on paint, which is why professional fitting is important.

What are the rules for glass branding and RTA?

The rules are stricter on glass than on bodywork: RTA does not allow branding on the windshield or side windows, and rear perforated film is only sometimes permitted, so it must be confirmed per vehicle. Where it is allowed, the design still follows the general requirements, at least 50 percent Arabic text across the branding, only Arabic and English, and no 3D elements, QR codes or barcodes. The vehicle must be registered under the company name on a matching trade licence. Because glass approvals are the most conditional, our team checks the current position before you commit, so you never print film that cannot legally be fitted. See our RTA vehicle branding approval guide for the wider rules.

FAQ

Window Perforated Film — ANSWERED

Can I still see out of the window with perforated film fitted?
Yes. Perforated film is full of tiny holes so the driver sees out through the rear glass, while the printed image faces the public outside. Visibility is reduced like a fine screen but stays safe for rearward vision.
Is rear window branding allowed by RTA in Dubai?
RTA does not allow branding on windshields or side windows, but rear perforated film is sometimes permitted. K.A.T SIGNS confirms what is allowed for your specific vehicle before printing anything.
Where else can perforated film be used?
The same one-way vision film brands shopfront and showroom glass, letting you advertise outside while people see out from inside. It is the material designed specifically for branding on glass.
Why does perforated film need professional installation?
Bubbles and poor edge sealing are far more visible on glass than on paint. Our fitters clean the glass thoroughly and seal edges so the film looks clean from both sides and does not lift in the sun.
Does K.A.T SIGNS provide Window Perforated Film across the UAE?
Yes. K.A.T SIGNS designs, produces and installs Window Perforated Film across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi from our in-house facility in Sharjah, with government and municipality permits handled end to end — send your details for a free, fast quote.
