How do I calculate letter height for a billboard?

Take the maximum distance at which the board must be legible, divide by 3 metres, and multiply by 25-30 mm to get a minimum letter height. For a sign that has to read from 60 metres, that is 20 units of 3 metres, or roughly 500-600 mm of letter height for the primary message. Apply the rule to the headline first, because that is the element that must land in the first second; secondary lines can be smaller but should never drop below what a quick glance can resolve. Speed matters too — the faster the traffic, the shorter the dwell time, so on fast roads round up rather than down.

What specs does a billboard need to survive the UAE climate?
