UV Printing

OVERVIEW

UV printing lets us print full colour directly onto rigid materials — acrylic, foam board, aluminium composite, wood, glass and more — with ink that cures instantly under UV light into a tough, scratch- and weather-resistant finish. K.A.T SIGNS runs flatbed UV in-house for signage, displays and branded decor across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi, then cuts and mounts the finished panel without it ever leaving the workshop.

What makes UV printing different?

Instead of printing onto paper or vinyl and mounting it, UV printing lays ink straight onto the rigid substrate and cures it on the spot with ultraviolet light. There is no drying wait and no separate laminating step, and because the ink bonds to the surface, the result resists scratching, fading and moisture far better than a stuck-on graphic that can bubble or peel at the edges.

It also prints on materials that ordinary presses cannot touch, and can lay down white ink under colour for vivid results on dark or clear surfaces, plus textured or raised effects for tactile detail. That opens up premium, durable work — reception logos, awards, direct-to-glass branding — that simply is not possible with roll media alone.

Which materials can you print on?

Almost any flat rigid sheet up to the bed thickness. That opens up work that mounted vinyl cannot do cleanly, and lets the material itself become part of the design.

Print directly onto the board — no vinyl, no lamination, no peeling edges. UV ink cures instantly into a hard, scratch-resistant surface. Substrate and size quoted per project.

Where does UV printing get used?

It is the go-to for rigid, premium and durable work where a mounted graphic would not survive or would not look sharp enough:

  • Acrylic signs, reception logos and directory panels.
  • Retail and exhibition display boards and shaped cutouts.
  • Outdoor aluminium-composite signage that must last in the sun.
  • Branded decor printed straight onto wood, glass and tile.

How does a UV job run?

Flatbed UV is precise and fast, and because cutting is in the same building the panel comes out finished, not raw:

  1. Confirm the substrate, size and any white-ink or texture layers.
  2. We colour-proof and set the flatbed print bed.
  3. Ink is printed and cured instantly under UV light.
  4. We cut or finish the panel — often on our CNC router — and install it.

How does UV fit with your other services?

UV printing pairs naturally with fabrication. Print an acrylic panel here and shape it on the laser cutter, mount it on a fabricated stand, or use UV for the rigid pieces while large-format printing handles the roll-media banners on the same project. Same workshop, same colour standard, one install crew.

Is UV printing durable and low-maintenance?

Yes on both counts, which is a large part of its appeal. Because the ink is cured hard onto the substrate rather than sitting on a film, a UV print resists scratches, scuffs and moisture, and on aluminium composite it holds colour outdoors through the UAE’s intense sun far longer than a cheaper mounted graphic. There is no laminate to lift, bubble or yellow, and cleaning is simply a wipe-down. UV inks also cure instantly with no solvents evaporating off, so panels are ready to handle and install immediately. For reception logos, directory boards and outdoor signage that must look sharp for years, that durability is the whole reason clients choose it.

FAQ

UV Printing — ANSWERED

What can UV printing print on?
UV printing goes directly onto rigid substrates such as acrylic, foam board, aluminium composite, wood, glass and tile — materials that ordinary presses and mounted vinyl cannot handle as cleanly.
Is UV print durable outdoors?
Yes. The ink cures instantly into a hard, scratch- and moisture-resistant surface, and on aluminium composite it holds up well outdoors in the UAE climate.
Do you need to laminate UV prints?
No. Because the ink bonds directly to the substrate and cures under UV light, there is no separate vinyl or lamination step, so there are no edges to peel.
Can you cut the printed panel to shape?
Yes. We finish UV-printed panels in-house on our CNC and laser machines, so signs, cutouts and displays can be shaped and mounted without leaving our workshop.
Does K.A.T SIGNS provide UV Printing across the UAE?
Yes. K.A.T SIGNS designs, produces and installs UV Printing across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi from our in-house facility in Sharjah, with government and municipality permits handled end to end — send your details for a free, fast quote.
