RTA and SEDD pre-approval is the official permission your commercial vehicle branding needs before it goes on the road in Dubai and Sharjah, and K.A.T SIGNS prepares the compliant bilingual artwork and submits the whole file for you so you never risk a fine or impound. We build approval into every vehicle branding project from the first design.
What is RTA and SEDD pre-approval?
RTA and SEDD pre-approval is the process of getting official sign-off on your vehicle’s branding design before it is printed and fitted, from the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai and from Sharjah’s economic authority for Sharjah-registered vehicles. Authorities review the artwork to confirm it meets the rules on language, content and placement, and only once approved can the branding legally be applied and driven. Skipping this step is what leads to fines and impound. Pre-approval protects you by catching any compliance issue at the design stage, when it costs nothing to fix, rather than after a vehicle is wrapped and stopped on the road.

What are the RTA rules for vehicle branding in Dubai?
The core RTA rules are specific and strict, and every branded commercial vehicle must meet them. The vehicle must be registered under the company name with a matching trade licence, the branding must be at least 50 percent Arabic text, and only Arabic and English are permitted, no other languages. Branding is not allowed on the windshield or side windows, though rear perforated film is sometimes permitted. Three-dimensional elements, QR codes and barcodes are all prohibited. Getting any of these wrong means rejection or, worse, a fine after fitting. Because we design to these rules from the start, our full wraps, decals and fleet work pass approval cleanly. The complete checklist is in our RTA vehicle branding approval guide.
How long does RTA approval take?
RTA approval for vehicle branding usually takes about three to seven working days, while a simple colour change is often faster at one to two working days. The timeline depends on the completeness of the submission and the type of branding, which is exactly why a properly prepared file matters, a rejected submission means starting the clock again. Because K.A.T SIGNS prepares the artwork correctly and includes the right documents, we avoid the back-and-forth that delays approval. For fleets, we batch submissions so multiple vehicles progress together rather than one at a time. We build this approval window into your project schedule so printing and fitting are timed to follow sign-off without wasted waiting.
What happens if branding is not compliant?
Non-compliant vehicle branding in Dubai risks fines and the vehicle being impounded, which is a costly and disruptive outcome for any business. Beyond the penalty itself, an impounded vehicle is off the road and off the job, and a wrap that has to be removed and redone doubles the cost. This is the whole reason pre-approval exists: it moves compliance to the design stage where a text proportion or a prohibited element is fixed on screen for free. By handling the approval ourselves, we make sure the branding that goes on your vehicle is the branding that was approved, so there is no gap between what is permitted and what is fitted, and no exposure to enforcement.
