Billboards & Hoardings

OVERVIEW

K.A.T SIGNS designs, prints and installs large-format billboards and construction hoardings across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi — with the RTA NOC and Municipality or DDA approvals handled for you, and UV-stable materials engineered to hold colour through a UAE summer.

What approvals does a billboard need in the UAE?

A roadside billboard needs an RTA No-Objection Certificate plus Municipality or DDA approval before it can go up. These bodies control placement, size, structural safety and content near public roads, and the requirements differ between Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. K.A.T SIGNS manages the full submission — drawings, location details and content proofs — so your campaign launches legally and on schedule. Reviewing your artwork early against the rules avoids costly reprints, and our billboard design rules guide walks through what regulators expect.

Content matters as much as structure. Regulators review billboard artwork, not just the frame. Bilingual EN/AR layout, legibility at road speed and appropriate imagery are all checked. We design to those rules from the first draft so approval is not a gamble.

What is the difference between a billboard and a hoarding?

A billboard is a permanent or long-term advertising structure beside a road; a hoarding is the printed boarding that wraps a construction or fit-out site. Both are large-format, but hoardings do double duty — they secure and screen a live site while turning the perimeter into a marketing surface announcing what is coming. K.A.T SIGNS produces both: freestanding and wall-mounted billboards, and full hoarding runs printed on flex or mesh, fixed to a safe timber or steel frame. Hoardings are often the very first marketing a new outlet does, teasing an opening date and building anticipation while the fit-out continues behind them, so we design them to convert street curiosity into launch-day footfall rather than merely screening a building site. On longer construction programmes the printed skins can be refreshed as the opening nears — swapping a coming-soon teaser for a now-open message, or rotating sponsors and phases — without rebuilding the frame, which keeps the perimeter current and the spend efficient across the whole build. Larger developments across Dubai and Sharjah frequently run hundreds of metres of hoarding, and we plan the panel layout so seams, gates and site entrances are accounted for and the branding still reads as one continuous run.

Which materials hold up on a UAE roadside?

UV-stable flex banner for solid panels and printed mesh where wind load is a concern, both printed with fade-resistant inks. Roadside branding takes the full force of UAE sun, heat and occasional sandstorms, so we print on heavyweight, UV-stable media, reinforce edges and eyelets, and mount to marine-grade aluminium or treated steel structures. For illuminated billboards we use IP65-rated LED so the lighting survives rain and dust. Mesh is specified on tall or exposed hoardings because it lets wind pass through and reduces strain on the frame.

HOW WE WORK

FROM BRIEF TO INSTALLED

01

Brief & site survey

We measure the wall, facade or stand space, check sightlines and access, and confirm what the landlord and authority will allow.

02

Design at scale

You see the artwork rendered on a photo of the real location, proofed for legibility at distance — not a screen-size mockup.

03

Print & build

Colour-managed large-format printing, lamination and frame fabrication under our roof, with QC before dispatch.

04

Permit & install

We submit any required municipality/RTA permit, then install — after hours if needed — and hand over with warranty.

FAQ

Billboards & Hoardings — ANSWERED

What permits does a billboard need in the UAE?
A roadside billboard needs an RTA No-Objection Certificate plus Municipality or DDA approval covering placement, size, structure and content. K.A.T SIGNS prepares and submits the full package for you.
Can you print construction site hoardings?
Yes. We print full hoarding runs on flex or mesh, fix them to a safe timber or steel frame, and secure the site perimeter while turning it into a branded marketing surface.
Will the print fade in the UAE sun?
No. We print on UV-stable, fade-resistant media and laminate where needed, so roadside artwork holds its colour through the UAE summer rather than fading in weeks.
Do you install the billboard as well?
Yes. K.A.T SIGNS fabricates the structure and installs with our own rigging crew, including traffic and safety measures, so one team owns print, build and installation.
Does K.A.T SIGNS provide Billboards & Hoardings across the UAE?
Yes. K.A.T SIGNS designs, produces and installs Billboards & Hoardings across Sharjah, Dubai, Ajman and Abu Dhabi from our in-house facility in Sharjah, with government and municipality permits handled end to end — send your details for a free, fast quote.
